Birding Picos de Europa
Tour guideSoloLocal
About
Birding Picos de Europa is a solo guiding operation based in the Asturian village of Llonín, on the doorstep of Spain's Picos de Europa National Park. Lead guide Javier Gil is a biologist and Official Tourist Guide of the Principality of Asturias with more than 20 years of field experience, and the company partners with the Bearded Vulture Foundation on the ongoing reintroduction project in the range.
The operation focuses on a 45-minute driving radius that spans the Cantabrian coastline up to alpine zones above 2,000 metres, allowing day trips that combine coastal seabirding with high-mountain specialties. Signature targets include all four Iberian vultures, Wallcreeper on the limestone cliffs, and Alpine Accentor and Snowfinch in the summit zones.
