About

Zest for Birds is a Cape Town-based birding outfit specialising in extended bird tours throughout South Africa together with day-trips and pelagic boat trips in and around the Western Cape. The operation is particularly well known for its Cape pelagics, which target the Southern Ocean tubenoses (albatrosses, petrels, prions and storm petrels) that come within reach of the Cape shelf, and for guided trips targeting the Cape endemics and near-endemics such as Cape Sugarbird, Cape Rockjumper and Orange-breasted Sunbird. The site is maintained by Tanya Graham and the wider Zest for Birds team, with input from a long list of well-known South African birders including Trevor Hardaker, John Graham, Ian Sinclair, Barrie Rose, Alvin Cope, Rob Leslie and Peter Ryan. Tours are tailored either to maximise species counts or to chase specific target birds, and the website doubles as a long-running South African birding resource for rarities, trip reports and pelagic photo galleries.
