About

WingsWest Birding is a small Santa Fe-based operator run by guide Bill West. From its New Mexico base the company covers the full sweep of the state's high desert, riparian and mountain birding, from the Bosque del Apache cranes to the spruce-fir specialties of the Sangre de Cristos and Gila high country, and it leads tours across the wider American Southwest. Its cross-border slate is what sets it apart from purely state-level New Mexico guides: regular departures to Sonora's San Carlos coast and Madera (for Eared Quetzal and Tufted Jay), longer trips into the Sierra Madre's Copper Canyon, and Ecuadorian itineraries that pick up the cloud-forest specialties of the northwest Andes. Group sizes are small and tours are run personally by West.
