Wingspan Bird Tours

Wingspan Bird Tours is run by ex-pat British birder Bob Buckler from a base in Gaucín, in the Málaga hinterland of Andalucía. From there the operation runs day trips into the Straits of Gibraltar, Coto Doñana, Ronda and the laguna at Fuente de Piedra, alongside week-long Spanish breaks that fold in Extremadura's bustard and sandgrouse country. Beyond Spain, Wingspan has built out a small but genuinely international slate of tours that includes Morocco, Portugal, Lesvos and Lake Kerkini in Greece, eastern Poland's primeval forests, Bulgaria, Sri Lanka, Colombia, Costa Rica and The Gambia, as well as UK day trips in Dorset, Somerset and the Isles of Scilly. The pitch is small-group birding for both beginners and serious listers, with Buckler personally leading most departures.
