About
Wildlife Safaris Finland is a long-established family operation based in Kuhmo on the Finnish-Russian border, run by Lassi and Sami Rautiainen. The company traces its photo-hide work back to the 1970s and is best known internationally for brown bear, wolf and wolverine photography from a network of dedicated hides set deep in the eastern taiga.
For birders, the boreal forest setting delivers the classic suite of Fennoscandian raptors, owls and woodpeckers, with Golden Eagle, White-tailed Eagle, Great Grey Owl and Three-toed Woodpecker among the regular targets. Tours operate from a remote base camp with multiple hides and bookable photography itineraries, and the operators are upfront that wildlife sightings cannot be guaranteed.
