Wildlife Paraguay

Wildlife Paraguay (Wildlife Tours Paraguay) is based in Luque, near Asunción, and bills itself as the country's only tour operator specialised in birding and nature. The company is run by ornithologists Alberto Esquivel Mattos, Nicolás Cantero and Rebeca Irala and is officially registered with SENATUR (registration #644). Their itineraries cover the country's four main eco-regions — the humid and dry Chaco, the Pantanal-influenced wetlands of the upper Paraguay River, the Cerrado and the southern Atlantic Forest — anchored on protected sites such as San Rafael National Park and the Mbaracayú Biosphere Reserve. The team has documented over 430 species on their tours and contributes a fixed share (a stated 1% of tour fees) to in-house conservation and research work.
