About

Wild Shetland Tours is led by Rob Fray, a professional naturalist who has guided in Shetland since 2006 and has served as Shetland's County Bird Recorder since 2014. Earlier in his career Rob was Leicestershire County Bird Recorder for 12 years and spent three seasons as Assistant Warden for RSPB Shetland, with over 35 years of ornithological fieldwork behind him. The operation runs bespoke and sample itineraries focused on Shetland's seabird cliffs, breeding waders (including Red-necked Phalarope) and the famously productive autumn migration that draws rarity hunters from across Britain. Trips also fold in Shetland's history, archaeology and culture for clients who want a broader natural-history holiday.
