About
Congo Safaris Tours runs guided trips inside Virunga National Park in the eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo, Africa's oldest national park and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The park sits at the western end of the Albertine Rift and is unusual in that it brings together montane forest, savanna, the Rwenzori Mountains and the active volcano of Mount Nyiragongo within a single protected area.
The operator advertises around 706 bird species recorded in the park, with roughly two dozen restricted-range endemics, and combines guided bird walks with the headline mountain-gorilla treks in the Mikeno Sector and volcano climbs at Nyiragongo. Logistics, ranger escorts, permits and lodging in and around Goma are handled in-house, and birding is offered as a stand-alone activity as well as alongside primate trekking.
Given the security situation in eastern DRC, departures depend on the park's current opening status, but the operator is actively marketing 2026 trips and provides WhatsApp and direct booking contact.
