Trek Papua

Trek Papua is a locally run operator based in Indonesian Papua specialising in birdwatching and trekking expeditions through the Bird's Head (Vogelkop) Peninsula. Their flagship birding itinerary begins in the port town of Manokwari before heading inland for several nights in the Arfak Mountains to search for the celebrated Vogelkop endemics. The team works closely with village communities around the Arfak range to access traditional bird-of-paradise display grounds and remote forest trails. With more than 800 bird species recorded in Papua, including many found nowhere else on earth, their tours combine serious endemic-hunting with cultural exchange in one of the world's least-visited birding regions.
