About
Tanzaniatrail is a Tanzania-only tour operator that distinguishes itself by leading with the southern and eastern parks rather than the well-trodden northern circuit. Their flagship 15-day southern Tanzania birding safari strings together Saadani on the coast, Mikumi, the Udzungwa Mountains, the Kilombero Valley, Ruaha, and Nyerere (Selous) — a route built specifically around Eastern Arc forest endemics, miombo woodland specialists, and Kilombero floodplain weavers that simply cannot be seen on a standard Serengeti-Ngorongoro trip.
Target species on their southern itineraries include Udzungwa Forest Partridge and Dapple-throat in the Eastern Arc forests, Kilombero Weaver and White-tailed Cisticola in the floodplain grasslands, and miombo specialists such as Ashy Starling and Yellow-collared Lovebird. Coastal stops at Saadani add Crab Plover and shorebirds to the trip list.
The company is independently registered in Tanzania and donates a portion of every booking to local community programmes. English-speaking guides handle the field birding directly rather than subcontracting to driver-guides.
