About

Serra dos Tucanos is a Brazilian birding lodge and tour company based in Nova Friburgo in the Atlantic Forest of Rio de Janeiro state. Founded and led by British birder Andy Foster, the company has been running tailor-made birding tours for more than twenty years from its own lodge on the edge of the Três Picos State Park. The in-house operation covers the major Brazilian birding regions — the Atlantic Forest around the lodge, the Pantanal, north-east Brazil, Iguazu Falls, and the Amazon — and has extended into north-west Argentina with a 15-day Yungas, Andes and Chaco itinerary across Tucumán, Salta, and Jujuy. Trip reports and species lists from the lodge's own grounds and trails feature heavily on the site. Guiding is bilingual, with small group sizes and a focus on Atlantic Forest endemics, cotingas, and antbirds.
