About

Serra dos Tucanos Birding Tours is run by British expatriate guide Andy Foster from Eco Lodge Itororó in the Atlantic Forest above Nova Friburgo, Rio de Janeiro state. The lodge has hosted birders for more than twenty years and serves as both a self-contained birding destination — its garden and trail network produce many of the southeast Atlantic Forest endemics — and as the start point for longer scheduled departures. The company's set-departure programme covers the Atlantic Rainforest, the Pantanal and Cerrado of Mato Grosso and Minas Gerais, the Brazilian Amazon, Iguazu Falls, and Northeast Brazil's caatinga endemics, plus a smaller programme of Northeast and Patagonian Argentina trips. Tours are led by bilingual Brazilian and British guides and are typically capped to small groups.
