About
Rockport Birding & Kayak Adventures runs guided boat tours along the Texas Coastal Bend, departing from Fulton near Rockport on the Aransas Bay. Captain Tommy and his team operate three-hour Whooping Crane safaris into the Aransas National Wildlife Refuge, where the endangered cranes overwinter from late October through April, plus year-round coastal birding trips and sunset kayak excursions.
The Texas Coastal Bend has logged more than 400 documented bird species, and the operator's compact pontoon boat puts birders within close range of wading birds, shorebirds, raptors, and pelagic visitors that are difficult to access from shore. Tours typically yield 30 to 60 species in a single outing.
With a guaranteed Whooping Crane sighting policy during the winter season, the company has become a fixture of the Texas Mid-Coast birding circuit and a regular stop for visiting birders during the Whooping Crane Festival in nearby Port Aransas.
