About
Quetzal Tours is a Fort Collins, Colorado-based birding and nature photography outfit founded by biologist Nick Komar. Komar — a career CDC scientist with a doctorate from Harvard — has birded on five continents, led field trips and identification workshops for the Fort Collins Audubon Society and Colorado Field Ornithologists, and co-authored Wild Birding Colorado: The Big Year of 2010.
The company runs day trips throughout Colorado as well as multi-day Latin American departures to Guatemala, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Nicaragua, Brazil and Jamaica, mixing serious target-bird birding with nature photography. Guides offer skills in raptors, owls, hummingbirds and gulls, and tour profits are channelled into bird conservation work through a sister Quetzal Foundation.
