About

Planktonik (operating as Birding Suriname) is a Paramaribo-based birding outfit run by Otte Ottema and Ashraf Tilburg, in operation since around 2004. They focus on small-group and custom birding trips through one of the last countries on Earth almost entirely covered by pristine rainforest. The team offers a standard 15-day country tour together with bespoke itineraries and day excursions from Paramaribo. Specialty targets include the Blood-colored Woodpecker, Guianan Cock-of-the-rock, Scarlet Ibis, Great Potoo and all six Guianan jacamar species, with trip reports available in both English and German.
