Papua Expeditions

Papua Expeditions (operating as EKONEXION) is a West Papua-based bird and wildlife operator founded in 2005 and permanently headquartered in Indonesian New Guinea. The company runs small-group birding, natural history and trekking expeditions across the western half of New Guinea, with the Arfak Mountains and Raja Ampat (Waigeo and Batanta) as flagship destinations. Trips are capped at six participants plus two expedition leaders and target the full slate of Vogelkop and Bird's Head endemics, with multilingual guiding in English, French, Dutch and Indonesian. The operator emphasises in-country logistics and a direct relationship with the highland communities whose forest concessions hold many of the bird-of-paradise display sites.
