About

Nature's Nest is a long-running eco-lodge and birding camp tucked into the Western Ghats foothills at Surla in Goa's Dharbandora taluka, on the doorstep of Bhagwan Mahavir Wildlife Sanctuary. It is one of the better-known dedicated birding camps in western India and is a regular base for visiting overseas tour groups working the Goa endemics circuit. Its in-house guides specialise in the lowland and mid-elevation Western Ghats birds of Goa, with around 200+ species recorded around the property. Typical morning walks target Indian Pitta, Oriental Dwarf Kingfisher, Spot-bellied Eagle Owl, Malabar Trogon and a suite of sunbirds and hornbills along the river bridges and forest tracks. The lodge runs scheduled birding camps in the November–March dry season, including options aimed at families and beginning birders, alongside private guiding for visiting tour operators.
