About

Napo Wildlife Center is a community-owned ecolodge and tour operation inside Yasuni National Park in the Ecuadorian Amazon, fully owned and operated by the Anangu Kichwa community. The lodge sits on Anangucocha Lake, reached by a 45-minute flight from Quito to Coca and a roughly four-hour boat trip down the Napo River and up a creek into the reserve. The surrounding forest holds more than 560 recorded bird species, and the lodge runs scheduled birding-focused stays as well as standard wildlife packages. Signature offerings include canopy-tower birding, two parrot clay licks, dugout-canoe birding on flooded creeks, and night excursions, with target species ranging from Hoatzin and Agami Heron in the wetlands to Pavonine Quetzal, both red-and-plum-throated cotingas, and an array of toucans and trumpeters in the terra firme forest. Guiding is shared between bilingual naturalist guides and native Kichwa community guides.
