About
Michael Westerbjerg Andersen is a Danish ornithologist and biologist who has guided wildlife and birdwatching expeditions in Central Asia since 1993. He is the founder and lead guide of Miksture, the tour company through which most of his trips are sold, and is widely regarded as one of the first western ornithologists to systematically explore the post-Soviet Central Asian republics.
He operates across Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan, with additional itineraries reaching Mongolia, Japan and western China. Andersen leads in seven languages including Danish, English, German, French, Russian, Swedish and Norwegian, and the tours target high-altitude raptors, desert specialities and Central Asian endemics.
