Magic Birding Tours (San Jorge Eco-Lodges)

About

Magic Birding Tours is the touring arm of the San Jorge Eco-Lodges network, a family-run Ecuadorian operation built around five private reserves and lodges that together cover roughly eight ecosystems within a two-hour radius of Quito: San Jorge de Quito, Tandayapa, Milpe, Guacamayos, and Sumaco Bajo. The lodges serve as a self-contained birding circuit on both the western (Choco) and eastern (Amazon) slopes of the Andes. The company runs its own van fleet and supplies bilingual local guides, offering day trips out of Quito as well as multi-day all-inclusive birding and photography itineraries. Marquee species accessible across the circuit include Sword-billed Hummingbird and Giant Antpitta in the highlands, Andean Cock-of-the-Rock and Toucan Barbet in the Choco foothills, and east-slope Amazon specialties from the Sumaco lodge.
