About
The Magic Birding Circuit is a licensed Quito-based bird tour operator built around the San Jorge Eco-Lodges, a network of private reserves and lodges spread across eight Ecuadorian ecosystems within a couple of hours of the capital. Guests move between high-altitude paramo and Andean highlands, cloud forest at Tandayapa, upper tropical rainforest at Milpe, Amazonian lowlands at Sumaco, eastern cloud forest at Guacamayos and Pacific coastal habitats at Estero Hondo.
The operator emphasises up to 1,600 possible bird species across the circuit and around 100 hummingbird species, with English-speaking native guides leading all-inclusive birdwatching, photography and natural-history programmes. The lodges themselves are owned and run by the same company, allowing them to package transport, guiding and accommodation as a single circuit.
