About
Johan Fernandez is a Costa Rican birding guide based in Carara, Puntarenas, working since 2003 and serving as a co-founder of the Costa Rican Ornithologists Union. He is best known for organising the Carara National Park Christmas Bird Count with the National Audubon Society and for the country's first record of Pacific Golden Plover at the national Shorebirds Count.
Fernandez guides through The Bird Way, which runs multi-day expeditions in Costa Rica alongside extension itineraries in Ecuador and Peru. He has conducted bird inventories across multiple regions of Costa Rica and works in English and Spanish.
