About

Iguazu Birdwatching is a Misiones-based birding outfit originally founded by the late Daniel 'Pupi' Somay, a former Iguazu National Park ranger and bird-banding researcher who built the company over more than two decades of jungle field work before his death in 2017. Operations are now led by University of Buenos Aires biologist Julian Baigorria, who previously developed Karadya Birding Lodge — pitched as Argentina's first dedicated birding lodge — in northern Misiones. While the company is rooted in Iguazu and the Atlantic Forest, its licensed guides also lead trips to Corrientes, Buenos Aires, Patagonia and the Northwest, plus cross-border itineraries into Paraguay and Brazil, making it one of the larger specialist birding operators based outside the capital.
