About
Hungarian Bird Tours is a one-guide operation run by Roy Adams, a retired wildlife crime officer who served almost thirty-two years with the Devon and Cornwall Constabulary before relocating to a village near Eger in eastern Hungary. He first visited Hungary in 1995 and has since built up a deep local knowledge of the region's birdlife, working closely with the staff of Bukk National Park on conservation projects.
Based in the diverse oak, beech and hornbeam forests of the Bukk Hills and within easy reach of nearby lakes and grasslands, Roy offers small-group and tailor-made birding tours targeting eastern Hungarian specialities such as eight species of woodpecker (including Syrian), four eagle species, Eurasian Scops Owl, Red-backed Shrike, Golden Oriole and Hawfinch. Tours benefit from his year-round presence in the area, eliminating cancellations from low bookings.
