About
Flamingos Tours Ethiopia is a specialist birding and wildlife outfit founded in 2002 by Jan, a Belgian naturalist who has lived in Ethiopia for more than two decades. The company runs guided birdwatching trips across the full Ethiopian circuit, from Awash and the Rift Valley lakes through the Bale Mountains highlands to the southern Yabello and Negele Borena thornveld.
Standard tours target around 400 species including approximately 40 Ethiopian endemics and near-endemics such as Prince Ruspoli's Turaco, Stresemann's Bush Crow and Blue-winged Goose, with photography-focused itineraries optimised for relaxed observation of confiding subjects. The company also incorporates Ethiopia's flagship mammals, including the Ethiopian Wolf, Gelada and Mountain Nyala.
