About
Ecuador Birds Tours is a Quito-based, 100% locally owned birding and wildlife photography operator led by Diego Cruz. Operating from the Andrango neighborhood of Quito, the team designs custom itineraries that span the country's full elevational range, from the high Andean paramo down through the western cloud forests of Mindo and the Choco, across to the upper and lower Amazon basin, and out to the Pacific coast and Galapagos.
Tours emphasize private transportation, lodge-based birding, and access to community and private reserves. Trip lists frequently include marquee Neotropical species such as Andean Condor, Andean Cock-of-the-Rock, Long-wattled Umbrellabird, and Hoatzin, along with extensive hummingbird and tanager diversity (the company highlights 70-plus hummingbird species recorded on its tours). Photography-focused departures and standard birding departures are both offered.
