About

Costa Rica Focus is a Costa Rica-based birding and bird-photography operator that designs custom itineraries and runs scheduled small-group tours capped at ten birders (eight for photography). The company describes roughly twenty years of operating history and works with the country's specialist birding lodges, which fill early in the dry season. Destinations rotate through every major birding region: Talamanca cloud forest at San Gerardo de Dota for Resplendent Quetzal, Caño Negro and the Caribbean lowlands for waterbirds, Carara for Scarlet Macaw, Monteverde for cloud-forest specialties, and the Osa Peninsula for southern Pacific endemics. Group tours include themed trips such as 'Tracking the Trogons,' an eleven-day departure that recorded 310 species across six trogon species in early 2026.
