China Birding Tours is a Nanjing-based specialist birding and wildlife operator founded by Steven An, an international tour guide who graduated in 2007 and built his career around birding from his university years onward. The company describes itself as having 17 years of field experience and is one of the more established English-language birding outfits operating throughout the Chinese mainland. Its itineraries reach virtually every major birding region in China, including the Sichuan pheasant circuit, Yunnan's southwest borderlands, Hainan Island for endemics such as Hainan Partridge, the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau for high-altitude specialists, and the eastern coastal flyway through Jiangsu, Shanghai and Tianjin for shorebirds and cranes. Photography-oriented and culture-combined tours are also offered. The company runs small private and group tours with full logistics support and is also used by overseas tour operators as an inbound ground agent. Guiding is offered in English and Mandarin, with custom itineraries the default rather than fixed departures.
