Calidris Birdsafaries is a Texel based bird-guiding outfit led by ornithologist Klaas de Jong, widely regarded as one of the most knowledgeable bird guides in the Netherlands. The Wadden Sea island of Texel sits squarely on the East Atlantic Flyway and holds the country's largest tally of recorded rarities, alongside an exceptional breeding community helped by the absence of Red Fox. Klaas runs half-day, full-day, and customized excursions in a small-group safari minibus, picking guests up from their accommodation or the ferry and rotating between the island's best reserves. Trips suit beginners as well as experienced listers, and clients are also taken further afield to destinations such as Schiermonnikoog, Belarus, Cyprus, the Gambia, and Suriname.
