Borderland Tours

Borderland Tours is an Arizona-based birding and natural history tour company founded in 1980 and headquartered in the small birding hub of Portal, on the eastern flank of the Chiricahua Mountains. The company built its reputation on detailed, well-paced itineraries through southeast Arizona's Sky Islands before expanding outward. From that Borderlands base the operator runs tours across North America, Mexico, Central and South America, the Caribbean and parts of Europe, with dates timed to coincide with peak migration and breeding activity in each region. Group sizes are kept small and days start early to catch the best of bird and wildlife activity. The team is organised around a roster of veteran tour leaders rather than a single owner-guide. Borderland Tours has been a long-standing presence on Fatbirder's Arizona listings and is one of the older surviving small-group birding companies in the southwest United States.
