Birdwing Nature Holidays

Birdwing Nature Holidays is a Sri Lankan birding outfit founded and led by Amila Salgado, a certified Sri Lanka Tourist Board national guide who became hooked on birds at age thirteen in 1989. The company runs full-country birding and natural history tours from a base in Kaduwela, on the eastern fringe of Colombo. Itineraries are built around the island's twenty-something endemics, with particular focus on the lowland rainforests of Sinharaja and Kitulgala for Serendib Scops Owl and Sri Lanka Frogmouth, the highlands of Horton Plains for montane specialities, and the dry-zone parks of Bundala and Yala for waterbirds, raptors and leopards. Tours combine birding with the wider natural and cultural fabric of Sri Lanka.
