Birding Tours Australia is a custom-tour operation run by well-known New South Wales birders Richard Baxter and Phil Hansbro, based around Newcastle and the Hunter Valley. The company offers everything from one-day local trips around Sydney and the Hunter through to multi-week custom itineraries anywhere in Australia and the wider Australasian region (Papua New Guinea, the Solomons, Lesser Sundas, New Britain and New Ireland). A particular speciality is dedicated trips to Australia's offshore territories – Christmas Island, the Cocos (Keeling) Islands, Lord Howe and Norfolk – plus expeditions to the rarely visited Torres Strait islands of Boigu, Dauan and Saibai. They also lead pelagic birding trips and tailor twitches for hard-to-find species such as Night Parrot.
