About

Birding the Islands is a Barbados-based tour operator specializing in the islands of the Lesser Antilles and the broader Caribbean, with extensions into the Guiana Shield (Trinidad & Tobago, Suriname) and the Pacific (Micronesia, Solomon Islands). The company is co-founded by Ryan Chenery, lead author of the Helm Field Guide to the Birds of the Lesser Antilles, and runs ATOL-protected, PTS-member itineraries. Fixed-date tours focus on collecting the full slate of Lesser Antillean endemics — including the four critically endangered Amazona parrots of Dominica, St Vincent, St Lucia, and Grenada — alongside specialists such as Forest Thrush, Purple-throated Carib, and the Grenada Dove. Micronesia and Solomons trips target their own dense suite of island endemics.
