About
Birding in Paradise Safaris is a Kampala-based specialist birding and wildlife-film coordination outfit run by Johnnie Kamugisha, a long-standing Ugandan bird guide profiled in Birder's World Magazine as one of the country's top guides and known on the international circuit for being able to imitate calls back to birds without recordings. He also operates the related brand 'Johnnie Uganda Safaris' for his own private clients.
Core tours target Uganda's full birding map — Mabamba for Shoebill, Murchison Falls for the river-and-savanna mix, Kibale for Green-breasted Pitta, Semuliki for the Congo-basin specialities, and Bwindi for the Albertine Rift endemics. The company also pushes into less-visited corners (Kidepo Valley, Pian Upe, Semuliki) for clients chasing northern Ugandan and Karamoja-region specialities, and runs cross-border trips into Kenya, Tanzania and Rwanda.
The film-coordination side of the business — supporting visiting wildlife photographers and crews — sets it apart from straight tour operators.
