About

Birding Azerbaijan is a specialist guiding operation that has been running birdwatching tours across Azerbaijan since 2010, with a particular focus on the famous Besh Barmag bottleneck on the Caspian coast where huge numbers of migrants funnel between the Caucasus and the sea. The team works in partnership with the local outfit OutTour and includes contributors such as Chris Mills, Oscar Campbell and local guides Zulfu Farajli, Elvin Mammadsoy and Leyla Muslim. Tours range from 10 to 12 day country circuits covering Caspian wetlands, the Greater Caucasus, semi-desert and high-altitude habitats, to bespoke 1 to 5 day private trips. In 2025 alone the team led twelve tours, alongside ongoing migration monitoring at Besh Barmag.
