About

Waskito Wibowo is a Java-based Indonesian bird guide who has been birding since 2009 and guiding clients in the field since 2012, operating under the Birdikari brand from Batu, near Malang in East Java. His itineraries range from single-day visits to Wonorejo Wetland, Tahura Raden Soeryo and Baluran National Park up to multi-week archipelago-spanning trips covering Java, Bali, Sumatra, Kalimantan, the Lesser Sundas, Sulawesi and West Papua. Beyond commercial guiding, Waskito has contributed to several conservation and research efforts — shorebird monitoring in coastal Java, Javan Lapwing and Ruck's Jungle Flycatcher search expeditions, Jakarta Bay seabird monitoring, and the citizen-science Big Month 2020. He is also a contributor to the Burungnesia birding app, the Indonesia Bird Atlas, and the Lynx Field Guide to the Birds of the Greater Sundas, giving him an unusually deep technical grounding for an independent guide.
