About

Bird Bolivia is a small family-run agency based in Santa Cruz de la Sierra that bills itself as the country's first specialised birdwatching tour operator. It runs short single-region trips as well as a flagship 21-day national itinerary that strings together the Beni savanna, Madidi rainforest, Yungas cloud forest, Apolo region and Lake Titicaca. The company keeps groups small (a maximum of six birders) and works with English-fluent Bolivian guides, including the Quechua-speaking Madidi-born guide Sandro Valdez. A distinctive policy: Bird Bolivia does not take a commission on visits to community-run conservation lodges and reserves, so the full lodge fee paid by clients flows to habitat protection and indigenous community partners. Beyond the standard endemic-macaw circuits, the company has built itineraries around the recently described Inti Tanager and the range-restricted Palkachupa Cotinga in the Apolo region, making it a useful operator for repeat visitors looking for less-covered targets.
