About
Bence Kokay is a Budapest-based Hungarian birding guide who has been birding since 1995 and guiding visitors since 2003. A member of the Hungarian Rarities Committee since 2010 and one of Hungary's most respected field ornithologists, he is known for sharp field skills that have led to several national firsts, including the first Yellow-billed Loon on Lake Balaton (2016) and the first Blue-cheeked Bee-eater in Kiskunsag.
Bence leads custom trips across Hungary's classic steppe and wetland sites — Kiskunsag, Hortobagy, the Bukk Hills, the Zemplen reserve area, and the Danube Bend — with a particular fondness for wildfowl, gulls and shorebirds. He has also guided cross-border trips into Romania and Belarus. He is listed among the professional guides on Hungarianbirdwatching.com, the long-running Hungarian guiding cooperative.
