About
Atitlan Expedition is a Lake Atitlan-based birding outfit working out of the Santiago Atitlan and Sololá area on the south shore. Guides are credentialed by Audubon International and licensed by INGUAT, the Guatemalan tourism authority, and the company specialises exclusively in the Atitlan basin rather than running countrywide circuits.
Products include half-day and full-day birding tours from $50 plus volcano hikes targeting the Horned Guan in the cloud forest of Atitlan and San Pedro volcanoes. The roster of headline targets is the highland endemic set: Pink-headed Warbler, Blue-throated Motmot, Belted Flycatcher and Highland Guan in addition to the Horned Guan and Resplendent Quetzal flagships.
