About

Arch McCallum is a Charleston-based ornithologist and naturalist who guides personal birding tours across the South Carolina Lowcountry. A South Carolina native who grew up in Dillon, McCallum spent 15 years in the Southwest and 12 in Oregon before returning to fulfill what he describes as a boyhood dream of being an ornithologist in Charleston; he now lives on James Island. His tours are flexible — clients can focus on maximising species totals or on targeting lifers they have not yet seen — and he is active with the Carolina Bird Club, where he works to encourage younger birders. McCallum maintains an extensive personal site documenting his trips, research, and Lowcountry birding routes.
