About
Alejandro Solano is a freelance Ecuadorian birding guide with more than 20 years of professional experience and a biology degree from the Universidad Latina de Costa Rica. Earlier in his career he served as a resident naturalist in the Monteverde Cloud Forest before returning to Ecuador to focus on guiding and conservation fieldwork — including surveys, nest mapping, and bird banding — and projects on the critically endangered Black-breasted Puffleg.
Solano has guided for multiple international birding tour companies and runs his own private conservation area, where he applies sustainable farming alongside habitat protection. He is regularly listed among the top birding guides in Ecuador and also takes assignments across the wider Andes, from Colombia south to Argentina and into southern Brazil.
